Qonming

The planet Qonming is located in the Guanju star system, 12 light-years from Ghar. It is Ghar's most important extrasolar trading partner and is somewhat of a crossroads of trade between the so-called Core Systems (of which Ghar is a part) and the Outer Reach. One can think of Qonming as having a position like one of the great trading cities along the ancient Silk Road, with goods from the Core Systems and Outer Reach flowing through it on their way to the other's markets. Settled by colonists of Chinese descent over 5000 years ago Qonming, unlike Ghar, has managed to maintain a unified global government effectively ruled by ancient dynasties of political families. Qonming is a heavily urbanized world with a population of 38 billion, and further 1.5 billion spread out across its two industrialized moons. Qonming supports its population with a mixture of (mostly) self-sufficient arcologies and millions of orbital agricultural habitats. The planet boasts an impressive eight orbital rings (not pictured) through which the riches of human space flow. Guanese (Qonming, also unlike Ghar, is the capital of its entire solar system rather than being bound to petty terrestrial nationalism) merchants are a common sight throughout the local cluster and many planets and habitats have Guanese embassies which act as representatives of Lord President Gan and Guanese parliament since delays in communications could mean responses to queries and requests might take years or even decades to reach the governments that sent them.
