Passage

After my last attempt at a spacescape, which I ended up just using as an avatar (I liked the laser and the planet/moon, but nothing else about the picture), I decided to try putting a little more effort into one. This is what I got.

I've been wanting to do a gas giant for quite a while now, and I wanted to do one last close-up kind of shot so I could practice some more detailed lighting (if you look real close, you can see I even shaded the craters and hills). I also tried a new technique for a star, which I think came out well. Speaking of stars, I also tried a gradual fade with the star field in the background, though in reality you wouldn't see any other stars due to the brightness (but the blackness looked unacceptable, so I did it anyways). I also wanted to try one more spaceship, though this one is farther away than the others.
