Charlemagne by ART5EC Charlemagne by ART5EC
Bureau of Colonial Affairs Blurb:

Charlemagne is an Earth-like world that the Earth Federation Bureau of Colonial Affairs lists as having an Earth Similarity Index rating of 0.97 and a Human Habitability Index rating of 0.99. It was initially discovered in the year 3657 by Orbital Observation Telescope 69973-J of the Earth Exploratory Corps and was then examined in detail via remote probe in 3659. In 3664 it was cleared for colonization by the Bureau and the first charter for colonization was awarded to an interest group from the European Union. The first wave of colonists arrived in 3669 and were mostly of German and Polish descent, with marginal French and Swedish minorities. A second wave of colonists arrived in 3677 bringing a population consisting of Italian, Czech, Greek, and Russian settlers, though the majority of the second wave was also German. After 3693 the planet was given full membership status in the United Earth Federation and was opened to general colonization, bringing in colonists from all over Earth and the Core Worlds. In 4119 Charlemagne was granted Core World status itself and became the de facto capital of the Carolingian Star System. The 4392 census lists Charlemagne as having a population of 4.3 billion entities, 99.6% of which are human. The official languages of the planet are Charlemagnian German (Modern German with heavy Polish and French influences) and Earth Conlang, though as in most places English and Mandarin are common second languages. It's largest city and capital is Keplerstadt with a population of 22 million entities, 99.9% of them human. The most popular religion on Charlemagne is Heathenism (Norse Neopaganism), followed by Wicca, however most of the population describes themselves as either atheist or otherwise irreligious. Due to Charlemange having a small axial tilt and thus mild seasons, and non-stationary ice caps that promote a larger temperate zone the main industry of the planet is agriculture with the primary crops being wheat, oats, and a native grain called rotekorn. Charlemagne has one small moon, Louis, which houses no permanent colonies and has little resource value. It shares the habitable zone of it's parent stars Pepin and Bertrada with a smaller habitable world, Carloman.

First Martian Empire Blurb:

Following the Galactic Dark Age the planet known as Charlemagne collapsed into many warring agricultural kingdoms which were united under a single ruler with Martian help in 6037. The Charlemangnians were very cooperative with their Maritan overlords and were given dominion over the Carolingian Systems. In 6122 Viceroy Lidia Nepi started a popularist rebellion against Martian rule brought on by economic hardship caused by Martian exportation of Charlemagnian grain, declaring herself Empress of the Carolingian Empire and claiming all the Carolingian Systems and outlying territories. The rebellion was crushed and Viceroy Nepi was publicly executed in 6126 and replaced with a military governor until the collapse of the First Empire. More detailed historical information was lost after the planet was rendered uninhabitable by orbital bombardment in the final years of the First Empire.

It took eight years of self-teaching to get where I am and I would still describe myself as amateur, so there's no shame in that XD
